TYPESET (FONT)
Obviously, certain fonts are easier to read
at a distance than others.  Typical stencils
used by most curb painters can be found in
local hardware stores. These stencils create
problems when viewing the numbers from a
distance...especially when less-than-ideal
viewing conditions are found.  HI VIZ
MARKINGS uses a different typeset for
numbers that provides significantly easier
number recognition from longer distances.
COLORS and REFLECTIVITY

PAINTED
Dark numbers on a reflective white background on
curbs and white numbers with a green background on
signs have been found to be more effective than any
other combination of colors/contrasts/reflectivity.
Having a larger reflective area to "catch the readers
eye" is more important than making only the address
numbers reflective.  Making the numbers reflective
(with a reflective background) does not provide any
significant gain.  Painting your address by using a
combination of highly reflective white background
paint, the correct typeset and a dark (hunter) green
contrasting number, HI VIZ MARKINGS provides a very
attractive and highly visible curb addressing system
anyone can easily spot and identify - both day and
night.

SIGNAGE
A reflective green background with reflective white
letters are used for highway and street name signs all
across the country for a reason!
Unlike our address painting, HI VIZ MARKINGS uses a
dark (green) background with light (white) letters /
numbers for address signs. This is because the
reflective materials used in our address signs vary
significantly from that used in our paint.  Without
getting too technical, reflective paint uses little glass
spheres (beads) about the size of a grain of salt.
Lower grades of reflective sheeting (often called
"engineer grade" or EG) also use glass spheres,
however they are much smaller in size and have a
metallic backing.
The mid-grades of reflective sheeting, often called
high-intensity (HI), still use spheres to reflect light. HI
is typically three times brighter than engineer grade.
The highest grades of reflective sheeting (often called
DG (Diamond Grade), HIP (High Intensity Prismatic),
or MVP (Maximum Visual Performance) use
microprisms to reflect light.  Microprism sheeting
reflects five to ten times more light than normal
reflective sheeting using spheres.

HI VIZ MARKINGS address signs use only
microprism technology.
LOCATION
Painting your house numbers where they can be seen may seem like a
no-brainer.  Most of the "other guys" paint numbers on your curb
where cars can park and block them.  This does not make any sense.
We place your highly visible and reflective numbers in the appropriate
locations:

On curbs in one of two locations:
  1. On both sides of your driveway*;
  2. On the curb next to the driveway (ONLY on your house side)

*By painting both sides of your driveway, your address is highly visible from
both directions of travel and should never be blocked by LEGALLY parked
vehicles. This is the for sure the best method!

Retroreflection is a term used to describe material that reflects most
incident light directly back to the light source.  In order for any
retroreflective material to work as designed, a proper viewing angle
(aka: observation angle) must be achieved.
SIZE
Naturally, the
larger a number or

WE "SHOW UP" OUR COMPETITION
colors and logos with their curb painting service.  You can expect to
pay anywhere from $20.00 up to $40.00 for this "service."  The
majority of these, however, are NOT REFLECTIVE and are nearly
impossible to view at night.  And even those claiming to offer
reflective address numbers cannot be compared with us.  The
techniques and/or materials they use are different from ours.

You can see some comparisons of them on our
photos page.

PROPER FLAG ETIQUETTE
Yes, the Texas flag background does look nice, but did you know
that proper flag etiquette never allows a flag to touch anything
beneath it, such as the ground!  Display our Texas / America flag
proudly AND correctly.

WHY ARE YOU PAINTING YOUR CURB ANYWAY?
Supporting your favorite college, NFL or high school football team is
great.  But what is the purpose of painting your numbers on your
curb if they can't be seen - especially at night?   Are you paying
someone to show your spirit or help make you and your
neighborhood safer by making your address more visible both day
and night?
EVEN MORE REASONS TO USE HI VIZ FOR YOUR ADDRESS!
My promise to you
When we paint your house numbers they will be painted
